A Plano-Convex Cylindrical Lens is essentially a transparent cylinder with one flat surface and one curved surface, resulting in a positive focal length. Its primary function is to condense a matrix of laser beams into a single line when focusing inside a detector. This characteristic also helps modulate the aspect ratio of images. Like its plate plano-convex counterpart, a plano-convex cylindrical lens performs best at infinite absolute conjugate ratios and becomes less effective when the ratios are below 5:1. The key difference is that a plate PCX lens diverges light in two dimensions, while a cylindrical PCX lens expands the light beam in one dimension.
